Balochistan minister killed in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area

Balochistan Excise and Taxation Minister Sardar Rustam Jamali was fatally shot during an attempted car-jacking in Karachi on Thursday.

Deputy Superintendent Police Shafi Rind quoted eyewitnesses as saying that Rustam was waiting for friends near Rado Bakery in Gulistan-e-Jauhar when four unidentified car snatchers tried to snatch his vehicle, and on his resistance, shot him and fled.

However, the victim’s uncle, Nauraiz Khan Jamali said Rustam had gone to Gulistan-e-Jauhar to discuss a property dispute with some people. Crime Investigation Department Senior SP Fayyaz Khan said property files were found in Rustam’s vehicle, adding that he was killed over personal enmity.

Police have registered the first information report and are investigating. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and President Asif Ali Zardari have condemned the murder and ordered authorities to conduct an immediate inquiry.
